The Vallegre Colheita 2018 is a Portuguese red wine with the Douro DOC appellation, made from the classic blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Sousão grape varieties. After a pre-fermentation cold maceration, fermentation takes place under temperature control. This wine then benefits from nine months of aging in French oak barrels, which imparts roundness and structure. The result is a highly expressive wine, perfect for lovers of balanced and generous wines.
This 2018 vintage displays a deep ruby color. The nose is intense, driven by aromas of ripe black fruit, sweet pepper, and woody spices. On the palate, the wine is dense, the tannins are well-integrated, and the finish is persistent. Notes of black cherry, prune, and a touch of smoke are also present. This is an ideal wine to accompany grilled meats, meats in sauce, or aged cheeses.
