The Estate
Le Marquis du Bois is produced under the technical direction of Jean-Michel Garcion, within the De Mour group, a Bordeaux family winery founded in 1938. Based in Soussans, the group perpetuates traditional expertise while respecting the terroir, and incorporates modern, environmentally friendly viticultural practices. The vines, aged between 10 and 30 years, flourish in clay-loam soils, giving the grapes ripeness and balance.
The wine
Red Bordeaux is the result of a balanced blend of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%). The grapes are harvested at full maturity to ensure optimal phenolic quality. After destemming and sorting, vinification takes place with a maceration of nearly three weeks, under strict temperature control. The wine then benefits from aging on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks for 5 to 10 months, which imparts suppleness and complexity. The average yield is 55 hl/ha.
Tasting notes
Le Marquis du Bois presents a deep color with violet highlights. On the nose, it seduces with its notes of ripe black fruit. On the palate, the attack is fresh, followed by a rich texture structured by fine tannins. The finish, persistent and fruity, reflects all the finesse of the Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. This is an approachable wine that will perfectly complement grilled meats, traditional dishes, and cheeses.
