Château La Croizille is an intimate 5-hectare estate situated in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, at the heart of the clay-limestone hillsides of Saint-Émilion. Since 1996, the De Schepper family has been practising a rigorous and innovative approach to viticulture here, combining an exceptional terroir, plot-by-plot vinification and precision ageing in a cellar of contemporary architecture. The estate neighbours Château Tour Baladoz, with whom it shares the same philosophy of quality and elegance.
Château La Croizille 2017 is made from a blend dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon. This vintage, which is fresher than 2015 or 2018, produces a more approachable, balanced and supple wine, with lovely fruit expression and a delicate structure. Aged for 12 to 15 months in barrels (50% of which are new), it brings roundness and complexity without weighing the wine down.
A crystal-clear garnet colour. On the nose, notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices and toasted oak. On the palate, Château La Croizille 2017 offers a supple attack, a well-balanced structure, integrated tannins and a fresh finish. A Grand Cru full of finesse and immediate pleasure.
