The Estate
Since 1969, this small, 7-hectare family estate in the heart of the Médoc vineyards has produced wines using traditional viticulture and winemaking practices. With a commitment to respecting tradition and valuing authenticity and sincerity, the fourth generation of the Cazenave family now crafts wines meant to be shared with simplicity. These wines follow the rhythm of nature, contributing to their uniqueness and authenticity. From its cellars with their stone and clay walls, Château Bois de Roc retains the simplicity of centuries past and the mark of its winemaker, Philippe Cazenave, who remained involved until the 2008 harvest. Today, his granddaughter, Aure, carries on his expertise and this family tradition, happily managing the vineyards and winemaking with the same values of tradition and authenticity.
The wine
Château Bois de Roc 2016 is crafted from a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot and Carménère. The grapes are harvested at perfect ripeness to preserve the balance between concentration, freshness, and structure. The wine is then aged for approximately 12 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new, imparting complexity, depth, and elegance.
Tasting notes
Château Bois de Roc displays a deep, garnet-hued color. The nose opens with generous aromas of ripe black fruit, accompanied by spicy and subtly woody notes. On the palate, the attack is ample and balanced, supported by a beautiful structure and elegant tannins. The long, harmonious finish reveals subtle toasty notes and a lovely freshness. This Médoc is an ideal accompaniment to red meats, stews, or aged cheeses.
