The Marchais Vineyard, a family estate located in Loire-Atlantique, is distinguished by its innovative viticulture, rooted in tradition. Based in Thouaré-sur-Loire, it produces distinctive wines such as Champtoceaux, a tribute to the terroir of the same name. Nestled between the Loire River and the hillsides, this vineyard benefits from schist and volcanic rock soils, which impart a beautiful mineral tension to the wine. The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, combining respect for the environment with modern techniques.
Champtoceaux – Coteaux de la Loire is a dry white wine made from Melon de Bourgogne, the region's emblematic grape variety. The winemaking process is meticulous, with fermentation at low temperatures to preserve the primary aromas. Aging on fine lees then enhances the wine's structure and richness. This cuvée expresses the essence of the Loire Valley terroir, balancing freshness, salinity, and finesse. A wine that surprises with its length and equilibrium.
In the glass, Champtoceaux reveals a pale robe with green highlights. The nose is precise, blending notes of citrus, green apple, white flowers, and a touch of iodine. On the palate, the attack is lively, then evolves towards a slightly chalky texture. The mouthwatering and persistent finish highlights the minerality of the soil. An elegant dry white, a perfect ambassador for the Coteaux de la Loire.
