The Vallegre winery embodies five generations of winemaking passion in the prestigious Douro region of northern Portugal. Made from the typical Douro grape varieties – Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz – the Vallegre Reserva 2014 benefits from a subtle blend of old vines and younger plots. Vinified with precision, it is aged for nine months in French oak barrels, which imparts structure, complexity, and elegance. This vintage expresses itself with both power and finesse, perfectly representing the style of great Douro reds.
The wine is dark, almost garnet in color. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits (blackberry, plum), accompanied by spicy and slightly woody notes. On the palate, the attack is direct. The tannins are well-integrated, the structure is generous, balanced by a lovely freshness. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of roundness and warmth.
