The Domaine du Monteillet, managed by Stéphane Montez, is located in Chavanay, in the heart of the Northern Rhône Valley. With nine generations of winemakers, the estate spans 24 hectares spread across the Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, and Côte-Rôtie appellations. Stéphane Montez combines family tradition with modern techniques to produce wines of great precision, faithfully reflecting their terroirs of origin.
The Fortis 2016 is made primarily from Syrah, with a touch of Viognier (approximately 5%). The grapes come from plots located on schist and granite soils, characteristic of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. After cold maceration and slow fermentation, the wine is aged for 20 months in French oak demi-muids, imparting complexity and structure to this exceptional vintage.
Deep purple robe with violet highlights. The nose is intense, blending aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), violet, licorice, and smoky notes. On the palate, the attack is ample, the tannins are silky, and the finish is long and spicy. Fortis 2016 is a distinguished wine, combining power and elegance, typical of great Côte-Rôtie wines.
