Château Tour Baladoz is an iconic family-owned estate in Saint-Émilion, classified as a Grand Cru Classé. The estate is situated in the commune of Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, on a magnificent limestone hillside overlooking the Dordogne valley. Owned by the De Mour group, the château benefits from an exceptional terroir, cultivated with rigour and respect. The vineyard, comprising a single block, is managed using sustainable viticulture, with constant care given to both the vines and the winery. The Tour Baladoz style combines Bordeaux tradition, modern precision and the depth of Saint-Émilion’s limestone terroirs.
Château Tour Baladoz 2020 is a blend of Merlot (the majority) and Cabernet Franc, sourced from the estate’s finest plots. The grapes are harvested by hand, meticulously sorted, and then vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels, a proportion of which are new. The 2020 vintage, which was warm yet perfectly managed, produces a wine that is powerful, dense and perfectly balanced. The richness of the fruit, the mineral freshness and the tannic structure harmonise to create a Grand Cru Classé with excellent ageing potential.
An intense purple colour with violet hues. The nose reveals lovely complexity: ripe black fruits, violet, mocha, cedar and chalky notes. On the palate, Château Tour Baladoz 2020 impresses with its volume, depth and silky texture. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, and the finish is lingering, with aromas of liquorice, black cherry and damp stone. A distinguished wine that brilliantly combines power and elegance.
Discover also the 2022 vintage – younger, but already very promising.
