Château La Croizille
2015

Château La Croizille, an estate classified as a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, always strives to bring out the best in each vintage. All our bottles are the fruit of exceptional experience and know-how. To present the first wine of Château La Croizille, we have chosen the 2015 vintage.

AN EXCEPTIONAL VINTAGE

Although the working methods and soils at Château La Croizille are constantly evolving to produce ever more exceptional wines, there is still one element that man cannot tame: the weather. The quality of a wine depends enormously on climatic conditions throughout the entire vine cycle.

After the harvest of the 2014 vintage, the cold autumn and winter temperatures allowed our vines to go into dormancy and store up as many resources as possible to prepare our future grapes. When the fine weather arrived, temperatures were warm with few rainy spells. These favourable weather conditions forced the vines to stop growing and concentrate their energy on creating more concentrated berries: this is known as water stress. August and September were also marked by good weather, giving us perfectly ripe grapes. Lastly, the harvest went off without a hitch with little rain, notably rot and dilution of the grapes.

TASTING NOTES CHÂTEAU LA CROIZILLE 2015

The sight...

Visually, Château la Croizille 2015 is still young. Its ruby-red colour is still very deep, with garnet highlights. The nose is an explosion, although a ripe cherry aroma dominates. There are also smoky aromas of tobacco, spices and coffee from the 18 to 24 months of ageing in new French barrels.

In the mouth

On the palate, the experience is just as powerful. A fine acidity, still present, gives a sensation of freshness, which is then accompanied by powerful tannins that are as supple as silk. The wine is long on the palate, giving us time to appreciate the aromas of jammy fruit such as blackberry, raspberry and cherry, which give a sweet sensation. Château la Croizille 2015 is a wine that can still be considered young in terms of its power and richness as it approaches 10 years of ageing. It is therefore important to keep it and serve it as it should be.

CONSERVATION AND SUPPORT FOR CHÂTEAU LA CROIZILLE 2015

To keep this wine in the best possible conditions, we recommend temperatures of 13°C (55.4°F) and 18°C (64.4°F). The most important thing is to maintain a stable temperature throughout storage and avoid sudden changes. The perfect humidity is around 60% to ensure that the cork remains moist and does not crumble.

If you decide to enjoy it quickly, we recommend pairing it with a fine piece of meat such as a rib of beef. In a few years’ time, however, Château La Croizille 2015 will have evolved and will go perfectly with truffle risotto or tournedos Rossini. More original, it can also be enjoyed with a chocolate dessert such as a cœur coulant . The tannins of the dark chocolate and the wine will combine to bring out a new range of aromas.
