The Estate
Domaine Brunier, renowned for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, offers with Mégaphone a more accessible, yet equally serious, expression of the southern Rhône Valley. Sourced from a selection of 6 hectares in Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron, on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, this wine benefits from a unique high-altitude terroir. The clay-sand and slightly stony soils, combined with rigorous viticulture, give rise to a distinctive, straightforward, and elegant Ventoux.
The wine
Mégaphone 2020 is a blend of 80% Grenache Noir and 20% Syrah, from vines with an average age of 25 years. The grapes are hand-harvested, rigorously sorted in the vineyard and at the winery, and undergo traditional fermentation in concrete vats for 20 to 30 days, followed by aging in 50-hectoliter casks for one year. This meticulous attention to detail at each stage preserves the terroir's identity and fully expresses the typicity of Ventoux: balance, tension, depth, and freshness.
Tasting notes
The nose of Mégaphone 2020 is serious and complex, dominated by licorice, black fruit, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it reveals a beautiful structure, with ripe tannins, a taut framework, and aromas of garrigue, sweet pepper, and blackberry. The finish is long, fresh, and elegant. A racy and vibrant Ventoux, a perfect reflection of its high-altitude terroir.
